Prime Minister Tarique Rahman commented that the names of BNP, Shaheed Ziaur Rahman, and the late Khaleda Zia are intrinsically linked with the country’s independence, sovereignty, and democracy. He stated that whenever the country has faced a crisis, BNP has taken the helm.

He made these remarks while participating in a discussion meeting organized on the occasion of BNP’s 48th founding anniversary at the Bangladesh Krishibid Institute Auditorium on Saturday (September 5).

The Prime Minister said that BNP has never engaged in any hidden or covert activities. The party has always been on the streets to secure the rights of the people. BNP has formed the government in every nationally and internationally accepted election it has contested.

Highlighting the country’s current situation, Tarique Rahman said that the biggest problem at the moment is the fuel crisis. The government has adopted an action plan to resolve this crisis, but its implementation will take some time. Emphasis is also being placed on ensuring that such a crisis does not arise in the future.

Expressing sorrow for those affected by the ongoing fuel crisis, the Prime Minister stated that efforts are underway to resolve all problems, whether they were created during autocratic rule or by interim governments.

He said that some individuals are trying to spread confusion centered around the fuel crisis. If anyone attempts to create anarchy, measures will be taken to control it according to the country’s prevalent laws. Everyone should remain within their respective boundaries.

Referring to BNP’s street movements, the party chairman said that during autocratic rule, a certain party remained in a covert state. Now they are coming out and revealing their identity. It is also possible that autocrats are hiding among these covert groups, attempting to create anarchy.

Tarique Rahman further stated that those who are in a covert state are trying to bring autocracy to the forefront. One is trying to keep another hidden. He called for revealing who is trying to keep whom hidden.
