US President Donald Trump has announced that if the Republican Party can maintain control of Congress in the upcoming November midterm elections, every adult citizen of the country will receive $5,000 as a ‘Trump dividend’. He made this proposal at the Republican Party’s first midterm conference. However, the process of disbursing this money or its legal basis has not been immediately clarified.

With approximately 270 million adult citizens in the United States, implementing this plan would require about $1.35 trillion. In his hour-and-forty-five-minute primetime speech, Trump claimed to have completed the ‘greatest two years in presidential history.’ He positioned himself at the center of the election, despite his declining popularity.
There is uncertainty about how much impact his campaign speech will have in attracting voters dissatisfied with the rising cost of living and the war with Iran. In his speech, Trump stated that if America’s future were left in the hands of the Democrats, it would take another decade for the country to recover.
