    President Calls for Tolerance, Shunning Politics of Conflict

    President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called for avoiding the politics of conflict and revenge, urging the nation to move towards a politics of tolerance.

    He made this call on Monday (September 7) in his speech after laying the foundation stone of Thakurgaon University.

    The President stated that the country must move forward through dialogue and understanding, not through bloodshed and conflict. Everyone must remain vigilant to ensure that the democracy achieved through immense sacrifices is not lost again.

    On this day, at 11:20 AM, the President laid the foundation stone at the designated site of the proposed university, located beside the Thakurgaon-Pirganj road in the Jamalpur area of Sadar Upazila.

    Mentioning that the foundation stone of Thakurgaon University has been laid, fulfilling the Prime Minister’s pledge, he stated that construction work for the university would begin shortly. The establishment of this university is a day of joy for the people of Thakurgaon and the entire region. It will further expand higher education opportunities for the people of northern Bangladesh.

    With the President laying the foundation stone, the process of opening a new door to higher education in this northern region has advanced another step. Locals hope that once the university is established, higher education opportunities will increase for students from Thakurgaon and surrounding districts.

    This marks Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s first official visit to his home district of Thakurgaon since assuming the presidency. He laid the foundation stone of the university on the second day of his two-day visit.

    Earlier, on Sunday (September 6) afternoon, the President arrived in Thakurgaon for a two-day official visit. His helicopter landed at Thakurgaon’s Shaheed Mohammad Ali Stadium. Subsequently, he was welcomed according to state protocol and given a guard of honor at the Circuit House.

    After the formalities at the Circuit House, the President visited the graves of his parents and prayed for their departed souls.

    An festive atmosphere is prevailing across Thakurgaon centered around the President’s visit. The city’s main roads, various intersections, and important establishments have been decorated. Security has been beefed up along his travel routes and at program venues. Multi-layered security cordons have been established at event sites and critical points.
